Hankook Tire’s expansion of its production plant in Racalmas (C Hungary) was finished ahead of the original end-of-the-year deadline. The production site has added a new 58,000 square meter unit, which will take the capacity of the plant to 35,000 tires a day by the second half of 2011. The EUR 230 million investment is all the more important as Hankook has successfully passed the audit from the VW Group and has become a potential supplier to all brands of the German carmaker giant. For next year, Hankook Racalmas is planning to recruit 700 new staff, and its annual production volumes will rise from the present 5 million to 12 million tires.
