The University of Kaposvar (SW Hungary) on June 10 signed a contract for HUF 3 billion in subsidies for infrastructure and IT investments.The funding will allow the university to establish a farm and food studies center, said rector Laszlo Babinszky. The university will also update its IT network, expand the research capacity of its wildlife management center, renovate its famous Horse Academy and add the study of digital arts program to its arts curriculum, he added.

The investments will start in the autumn, after tenders are called, and be completed by the end of 2010.The University of Kaposvar is one of six regional institutions of higher education that were awarded a combined HUF 26 billion in development funding under the New Hungary Development Plan last summer.
