EIT to Have Headquarters In Infopark
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) will have its headquarters in Budapest's Infopark. As the result of a tender, the Hungarian government has secured and will pay rent for 3,520 square meters of space in the Infopark E building for EIT for 20 years. The total cost to the state will be an annual HUF 193.5 million.
The building will be ready for EIT to move into on December 1, 2009. Budapest was picked as the site for the EIT in June, beating Wroclaw, Jena, Sant Cugat del Valles and a joint application by Vienna and Bratislava. The EIT is Hungary's first Europe-wide institution. EIT aims to transform education and research results into commercial innovation opportunities across Europe.
